World Cup 2026: Trump gave the green light for Iran's participation

Μουντιάλ 2026: Ο Τραμπ άναψε το πράσινο φως για τη συμμετοχή του Ιράν

A saga that went through a thousand waves seems to have definitively come to an end. For quite some time, Iran's participation in the World Cup was considered at least precarious after the country became embroiled in a war against American-Israeli forces, which had significant consequences at a sporting level as well.

The Football Federation of Iran had threatened to withdraw from the World Cup, which will be held this summer in North America, but it now appears that this scenario has been eliminated.

FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, stressed that the Iranians will participate normally in the top football tournament, and when asked about it, Donald Trump did not object.

The President of the USA underlined that he agrees with FIFA's decision, allowing the presence of the Iranian national team in the stadiums of the United States.

"Since Infantino said so, I'm fine with that," he initially replied to a question, and when asked about his reaction if Iran were to win the title, he added humorously: "I'll worry about that. You know what? Let them play. I told Infantino he can do whatever he wants."
