Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappé, gave a lengthy interview to the French magazine GQ, for which he will also grace the cover of the April and May issue. Among other things, he spoke openly about joining the "merengues," his ambitions for the 2026 World Cup, and the evolution of his playing style.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star stated that wearing the colors of the Spanish team is a divine gift for him, describing his decision to move to Madrid as the best of his career.
"For me, it's like a gift from God. To have the opportunity to live my passion, to play in the biggest games and to play for the best club in the world. I am extremely grateful to be able to go out on the field every day and wake up to do what makes me happy."
The 27-year-old forward also emphasized the privilege of playing at the "Bernabéu", in the heart of the Spanish capital, stressing that he plays: "in the best stadium in the world in a country which, from a footballing point of view, is among the elite of the world."
The captain of the French national team also reiterated that a World Cup remains a "special occasion," while also outlining the expectations of the "tricolors" for the upcoming World Cup, which will be held next summer in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
"We win as a team, thanks to perseverance and the strength of collectivity. We are very ambitious, but we remain humble enough to know that nothing is guaranteed. The hardest thing is not to reach the top, it is to stay there and continue to progress. A career never follows a linear path. There are parameters that we control and others that we don't. Today, I am evolving in the environment I dreamed of as a child."
"Nowadays, pure talent is no longer enough. Consistency is what makes the difference," Mbappé insisted, concluding that "football is not just about what you do with the ball at your feet, but it also includes the entire peripheral aspect: teamwork, consistency and responsibilities."
