Giorgos Donis is officially the new coach of the Saudi Arabia national team.
On his nameday, the experienced coach was appointed the new boss of the Saudi Arabia national team.
The 56-year-old (22/10/69) Greek coach will take on one of the biggest challenges of his career after Al Khaleej.
A significant national team in Asia, he will lead them to the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The federation's announcement states: "The Saudi Arabian Football Federation on Thursday signed a contract with Greek coach Giorgos Donis, who will take over the technical management of the first national team until July 2027, succeeding Frenchman Hervé Renard, after the contractual relationship between the two parties was settled.
Donis has coached several European and Arab teams, most notably PAOK, AEK, and Panathinaikos in Greece, and has extensive coaching experience in the Saudi Professional League with Al-Hilal, Al-Wehda, and Al-Fateh, in addition to his recent experience with Al-Khaleej.
Donis also has a number of achievements during his coaching career, most notably the 2013-2014 Cypriot Championship, the 2013-2014 Cypriot Cup, the 2015 King's Cup, the 2015-2016 Crown Prince's Cup, and the 2015 Saudi Super Cup.
The national team is preparing to enter the fourth and final phase of its preparation program for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Football Federation will hold a press conference in Riyadh with the national team's coaching staff, before the national team's delegation departs for its final preparatory camp in the United States of America, ahead of its participation in the 2026 World Cup."
