Barcelona remained on its throne this year, as a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at "Camp Nou" was enough to mathematically secure the La Liga title, 3 matchdays before the end of the championship.
In statements made after the match, the coach of the "Blaugrana", Hansi Flick, expressed his emotion and pride for winning the trophy, while also emphasizing how important this moment is for him, especially after the death of his father earlier in the day.
"I will never forget this day. It was a difficult day for me from the beginning... when my father passed away. But here, my team is fantastic. I truly love them. They are like family and they gave everything today. And I am really proud of the fans too - they are fantastic. It's amazing to win the league in this stadium and also in El Clásico against Real Madrid."
The German coach also praised both teams for their performance in the title-clinching match, and thanked everyone involved with the club, noting the collective effort behind winning the title.
"We played very well, we defended very well and scored two great goals. I want to thank the team, the president, Yuste and all the people who have supported us. I am very proud to have such a good team. Thank you for your willingness to fight in every game. I appreciate it very much."
Finally, the 61-year-old coach also participated in the celebrations with the fans after Barcelona was declared champion, saying: "I think we have to celebrate it. Visca el Barca and Visca Catalunya! (Long live Barcelona and long live Catalonia)."
