OFI made history by winning the Greek Cup after a thrilling final in Volos, and for the first time ever, they will compete in a European competition's League Phase! This is because they secured their ticket to the Europa League playoffs, meaning they will at least reach the Conference League Phase.
Currently, the Cretan team is the only one to have secured its place in this stage of the competition, with the clubs that win the Cup in Belgium, Czech Republic, Turkey, and Norway also expected to qualify for the playoffs.
Unless, of course, they are teams that have already qualified for the Champions League, with the spot being given through their respective leagues.
There will be 12 playoff pairs, with 5 out of 24 teams qualifying in the aforementioned way, and the others coming from the winners of the third qualifying round of the Europa League (13 teams) and the losers of the Champions League champions' path (6 teams).
Among the teams that are likely to reach the playoffs are Copenhagen, Ferencváros, Viktoria Plzeň, Salzburg, and Celtic.
