Panathinaikos in a statement, also in English: "We understand Valencia's bitterness! We lodged a complaint with Euroleague"

Παναθηναϊκός με ανακοίνωση και στα αγγλικά: «Αντιλαμβανόμαστε την πικρία της Βαλένθια! Κάναμε καταγγελία στη Euroleague»

Panathinaikos through a statement from the Basketball Club (KAE) went on the offensive, stressing that it had filed a complaint with EuroLeague about what happened in Game 2 against Valencia.

Specifically, the "Greens" spoke about the poor hospitality they experienced in Spain, detailing a series of specific incidents.

The announcement

"We understand the bitterness of the Valencia Basket people over their loss in Game 2 of the EuroLeague Playoffs.

However, an unfortunate result for their team cannot justify unspeakable events such as:

- Objects being thrown at our bench during the game.

- Interventions by Valencia Basket security personnel towards Panathinaikos AKTOR athletes during the game, telling them not to stand up and celebrate their team's baskets from the bench! This is something that has never happened before in any stadium on the planet!

- The unwarranted attacks by Valencia Basket players and officials on our athletes and staff after the end of the game, culminating in Isaac Nogués' aggressive action against Kendrick Nunn. The same "athlete" immediately after attacked our team's assistant coach, Vassilis Simtsak, who had simply gone to greet the Panathinaikos fans.

- The fact that the security personnel of the Valencia Basket arena decided, completely without reason, to remove our team officials from the Roig Arena facilities after the game.

- The generally appalling behavior of the security personnel towards all officials of Panathinaikos AKTOR BC, even to the point of pushing them and preventing them from doing their job even during the game.

- The "hazing" of the Spanish team's security personnel towards Panathinaikos fans in both the first and second games of the series.

- The move by the Spanish team's management to call police forces to the locker rooms to unlawfully detain Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos because, according to the official scoresheet, he allegedly told the referees: "Call the foul! Call the foul".

Panathinaikos is undoubtedly one of the most historic teams in Europe with vast experience from countless away games, and yesterday in Valencia, it experienced the worst hospitality and behavior in a European arena.

It is obvious that we have officially reported all of the above to EuroLeague! Although we understand the anger that the aforementioned events caused our fans, we call on them on Wednesday (6/5) to do what they know best: to support the team only with their voices, leaving Panathinaikos AKTOR's coach and athletes to provide any response to all of this.
