Barcelona star, Raphinha, caused strong reactions after the controversial comments he made about referee Clément Turpin during the Catalans' return leg against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals.
More specifically, the Brazilian winger, who did not play at all due to the hamstring injury he sustained last month, stated: "It's a stolen match. To make a mistake is human, but for it to happen again in the return leg? We played very well, but this qualification was stolen from us.
The refereeing was terrible, the decisions he made are incredible. Atlético committed countless fouls and the referee didn't even show them a yellow card. I really want to understand his fear that Barça might qualify for the final."
Raphinha's comments could land him in serious trouble, according to UEFA guidelines.
More specifically, Article 11 of the Federation's Disciplinary Code, concerning General Principles of Conduct, states that: "Any offensive conduct or conduct that violates the basic standards of decent conduct or conduct that discredits the sport of football, and particularly UEFA, shall constitute grounds for sanctions".
Indeed, according to a report by the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the international forward could face a three-match ban, which he would have to serve starting from next season in the Champions League.
