The Panathinaikos squad did not want to get caught up in unnecessary drama, instead aiming to “secure” their qualification spot for the Stoiximan GBL semifinals an hour ahead of time.
The Panathinaikos side did not give Mykonos any reason to hope for anything better than a solid, competitive showing across the entire game.
The comfortable win and qualification landed in the green team’s favor, with the Ataman-led squad having Matthias Lesor (18 pts), Dino Mitoglou (18 pts, 9 reb), Nikos Rogkavopoulos (16 pts, 7 reb, 5 ast) and TJ Shorts (15 pts) all suiting up from the opening tip.
The lead stretched to 19 points in the fourth quarter (63-82), and from there the “Greens” pulled away comfortably, who now have a semifinal matchup against PAOK on the horizon.
It should be noted that Farinoud, Nan, Sloukas, Kalaitzakis and also Osman (note that he is not listed on the Greek roster) were sidelined with injuries.
This marked Mykonos's final game of the current season, as they bid farewell to the campaign.
