Sweden will be in the USA for the 2026 World Cup, but their journey to the finals has sparked debate about the current qualification format for the World Cup.
During the qualifying round, the Scandinavians finished last in their group, without a single victory!
Specifically, Sweden finished in 4th and last place in a group with opponents Switzerland, Kosovo and Slovenia, accumulating a poor record of two points. Even so, they managed to get a second chance to reach the top tournament through the Nations League!
Their results in the UEFA competition secured their presence in the World Cup play-offs, where with two victories against Ukraine and Poland, they managed to secure their ticket to the finals.
We remind you that in the group stage, Graham Potter's team will face Tunisia, Netherlands and Japan, with their opener against the Africans in Mexico.
